About Credit Searches

The credit searches we carry out are different to a credit rating check.

We only examine publicly held information on an individual including:

The fact that we have viewed the publicly available information will be recorded by the credit reference agency, for data protection purposes, but will not have any effect on an individual's credit rating.

We do not have access, nor seek to have access, to an individual's current borrowing, or any applications for credit, that may have been made.

Background checks >

Important - Whilst an unspent conviction or bad credit history may not in itself cause a failure to reach the security standard required by an employer; a failure to declare an unspent conviction or current CCJs, bankruptcy or insolvency status almost certainly will. If in any doubt as to whether a conviction is spent or unspent please visit www.nacro.org.uk for further guidance.

To apply for a background check please:

The background checking process:

  1. We identify which background checks are applicable to your organisation;
  2. We then send out the relevant forms;
  3. Each applicant completes the forms and returns them to us;
  4. We carry out the background checks;
  5. We report the results to the HR department or directly to the applicant.
